We were stunned when we were rejected by the attendant at the handicapped lot some 90 minutes prior to the show. It made for a difficult trek from the main parking lot for my disabled father (knee injury) and my brother (recovering from back surgery). But they failed to provide ample parking for the handicapped. Last month, I took my brother and my parents to see John Fogerty and ZZ Top in concert. ![]() There is truly no other Long Island summertime experience than taking in an evening concert at this venue with a cool refreshing breeze blowing in from the bay. The sight lines are just about always excellent, unless you happen to get stuck in the upper corners, which is still good enough. They’ve also added projection screens to either side of the covered stage. It can get fabulously loud with a full crowd in the house. The “new” upper deck nearly doubled seating capacity. I fell in love with the place back then for its incredible views of the stage, surrounded by Zach’s Bay, the beach and the scenic Ocean Parkway. That was the summer when I went to see Joe Namath starring in Damn Yankees. I’ve been attending concerts and shows at the Jones Beach Theater going back to 1981.
